Welcome to the Cock Horse. Tonbridge

A great traditional British pub in Hildenborough

Find Us

Built in 1502 during the reign of Henry VIII, The Cock Horse pub in Hildenborough serves up fine food and drink in historic, homely surroundings.

A former coaching inn, the pub takes its name from the heavy horse which used to help drag local stagecoaches up the hill to the next village. The Cock Horse is the perfect place to relax with a pint, with a crackling real fire lending a snug, cosy feel to the traditional bar.

There’s a charming restaurant area, and the place has carved out a reputation as one of the best places to eat for miles around. Ideal for celebrating special occasions, the pub can also cater for private parties.

Walkers (and their well-behaved dogs) exploring the local area are more than welcome to pop in for refreshment, and The Cock Horse has a lovely lawn and two decking areas providing the perfect setting for summer drinks.

Dining at The Cock Horse

The Cock Horse prides itself on excellent food crafted from first-class ingredients - all to be enjoyed in a comfortable, characterful dining area.

At the bar, meanwhile, there’s a super selection of ales and lagers from Britain’s oldest brewer, Shepherd Neame, as well as wines, spirits and soft drinks to satisfy every taste.
